Ixora

varieties and makes nice looking dishes. Appreciated by landscape designers
as border plant and for informal gardens. It has a glossy dark green foliage
and orange, orange - red flowers; grows in any soil ,
near the sea side or along the streets, with a moderate moisture under full

growth rate without enough fertilizer, prone to mealy bugs, rust, beet army
worms and bagworms if not taken care of; propagation by cuttings.

Like
the clove, this species is indigenous to the Coconut fiber and burnt husk of rice.
Mixtures of these two ingredients in
substrates of potted plants is common in Thai nurseries. Their
efficiency has been compared to other materials since very long...
The burnt husks of rice are increasingly used as media in tissue culture
instead of Agar, an other ingredient widely available in
If too thin or powdered the coconut fiber will consume a lot of nitrogen to decompose and the plants will be maintained well but growth will be slow; therefore it is best to use bits of coconut in addition to fiber material. If used alone, coconut material will retain a lot of humidity : although this attribute is undoubtedly an advantage in greenhouses under temperate climates, the heavy tropical rains may be difficult to cope with in such conditions; this is where the burnt husk of rice plays a role, retaining much less moisture.
Apart from being " humidity regulators ", coupled coconut bits / fibers and burnt husk of rice have excellent rooting & growing properties and here is the reason why they are mixed with soil domestically.
Owing to their light weight they are also valuable mixes of potted plants for export if permitted. We directly pack the husks of rice in sealed bags just after they have been burnt at oil factories : the process guarantees an insect, worm and disease free material without phytosanitary chemicals.

Telosma minor, Asclepiadaceae.
The
cut flowers are sold in markets wrapped in banana leaves. These flowers are
tasty, rich in carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins A
et C. Flowering in the rainy season and the cold season. The plant can be
propagated by cuttings or by dividing the root system.A - proven - nourishing recipe to keep insects away

Here are a few tips for buying in a view to export : the plants on offer at Chatuchak market are usually purchased to be cultivated domestically. Plants that have been dug out from the ground and are directly potted , if sent soon after by plane - bare roots or in a new mix - may have much reduced chances of survival than plants that have rooted in their new medium suitable for export. Even if sent bare roots, plants that have grown in a proper soil will do much better. It is certainly best to buy plants from a plant exporter, and it is possible to contact them through vendors on the spot. Buying plants following advance agreement on the conditions of cultivation before unrooting is certainely a good precaution.

1 part of molasses for 3 parts of plant leaves : Citronella grass, or if it is not available Lemon grass rhizomes ( Cymbopogon citratus ) , Kaffir ( Citrus hystrix ) , Azadirachta indica var. siamensis, a Meliaceae and old leaves of Alpinia siamense, a Zinziberaceae.
The Azadirachta ( " Sadao " in Thai ) is known to be essential in the formulation. Under heat in a close container the energetic mixture ferments in 7 days and is ready to use as a fertilizer when watering plants and vegetables. It is a very powerful preparation for repelling insects and is said to match all plant needs in terms of macro & micro nutriments, vitamins and even hormones.
A tremendous
effect on the plant appearance. However there are some drawbacks; the plants
will be killed in no time with a wrong concentration or over use : every 10
days a maximum of 1 tablespoon of the fermented mixture in 10 litres of water
is a good precaution.
Every week the liquid must be blended. The shelf life of a preparation is
about 3 - 4 weeks.
